Participating in IMVU's free 3D chat feature requires an additional desktop application that gives you access to various chat rooms, a private room you can decorate and a personal messaging system. In addition to the 3D chat room client, the installer can also install a special extension to Firefox and Internet Explorer, which adds a special search engine and shortcuts to popular pages on IMVU's website. You need a Windows administrator account to run the IMVU installer.

Download the IMVU installer from the IMVU website if you haven't already done so. Click the 'Download' link near the bottom of the main page, then click the 'Download IMVU Now!' button to start the download. Click 'Save' to save the IMVU installer file to your hard drive.
2.Double-click the IMVU installer file. If Windows displays a security warning prompt, click 'Run' to proceed. The IMVU installer downloads some additional setup files from a server. You can view the download's progress in the progress bar on the bottom half of the window. After all the files download, the setup wizard automatically installs them.
3.Clear the check box next to any unwanted items on the final setup screen. These items include installing the IMVU browser extension, changing your default search engine to IMVU and making IMVU your homepage.
4.Click 'Finish' to complete the installation process. The IMVU chat client launches, allowing you to log in using your account information.
